U.S. law requires companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in this country. This means either U.S. citizens or non-citizens who have the appropriate authorization. As a means to determine the eligibility of employees to work in the U.S., the government developed “E-verify,” an internet-based system that is free and easy to use. I think it’s an effective way for employers to ensure that their workforce is legal.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), “E-Verify’s most impressive features are its speed and accuracy. E-Verify is the only free, fast, online service of its kind that verifies employees’ data against millions of government records and provides results within as little as three to five seconds.”
Over 600,000 U.S. employers are enrolled in E-Verify. If your company is one of them, you may apply to use the E-verify logo on your website, in presentations and in brochures. You should refer to the aforementioned guidelines and then download the Guidelines and Licensing Agreement. Once you have completed and signed the agreement, sent it to email@example.com. Once you are approved, you will receive digitized logo files for your use on approved materials.
