Kea Richards – Payroll Administrator

When Kea Richards moved from Chicago to Atlanta four years ago, she had several things on her mind—finding better schools for her children and spending more time with her brother and one of her closest friends, both of whom live in Atlanta. When it came to her line of work, though, Richards had one primary objective—to find a job in her current field, payroll, which would also further her career in accounting.

Richards, who graduated from Indiana Tech with an Accounting degree in 2013, has long been drawn to math and calculations. “I took accounting as an elective when I was a junior in high school, and that was it,” she says. “I loved it.” Richards put her talents and passion to good use shortly after arriving in Atlanta when she landed her job as a Payroll Administrator with MarathonHR.

In her spare time, Richards enjoys eating Mexican cuisine and seafood with her three children, ages 14, 18 and 22. She also enjoys bowling and “whatever my children want to do,” she says. She hopes one day to become a Senior Staff Accountant, but for now, she’s content exploring her new community and spending time with friends and family.

Although Richards was born and raised in Chicago, she reports that Atlanta is now home, and she plans to do good work in the community, as well. “I want to work with seniors and abused children,” says Richards. “I like helping people—especially strangers—what I call loving and serving all I encounter,” she concludes. “I believe we are all here to serve and help one another in everyday life.”
